Haryana news: Anil Vij inspects construction work of NCDC building
Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij today inspected the under-construction National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) building in Ambala and reviewed the progress of the project.
The NCDC branch is being constructed at Naggal village of Ambala Cantonment.
Vij discussed the progress report with officials of the Central Public Works and Health Departments and said the centre would provide disease-related testing facilities along with research work, benefiting not only India but also the world.
He said the laboratory was being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 17 crore. Scientists will be stationed here for research and testing, benefiting patients from seven states, including Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan, and the western and northern regions of the country. People would no longer need to travel to Delhi or Pune for testing.
Vij mentioned that the first phase of construction would be completed soon. After that, the main building would be built. During his inspection, Vij reviewed the progress and asked officials about the timeline for completing the first phase and subsequent work plans.
Vij said Ambala Cantonment was selected for NCDC due to its connectivity via air, rail, and road networks. It is also close to Atal Cancer Care Centre; Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment and three medical colleges, ensuring a steady supply of research samples. The NCDC branch will play a key role in detecting, controlling, and preventing infectious diseases. It will also help in controlling waterborne and airborne diseases.
