The electrocution was triggered by a broken high-voltage power line.

The deceased, identified as Rajesh Kumar, was fatally injured on July 6 after coming into contact with a snapped 11,000-volt power line.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Vij has recommended the suspension of six officials, including SDO, JE and four linemen. An FIR has also been registered at the Nigdhu police station and an investigation in the matter is underway.

Calling it a case of serious negligence, Vij directed strict action against the officials concerned.

“This tragedy could have been prevented if timely action had been taken given the number of complaints that were filed. Such negligence will not be tolerated,” the Minister said.
