Vij seeks new HSVP sectors along ring road in Ambala Cant
As a ring road is under construction in Ambala, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij has instructed the Chief Administrator of Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to conduct a survey and develop new sectors of HSVP, before illegal colonies are developed here.
The minister, in a letter to the HSVP Chief Administrator, said a ring road was under construction in Ambala and the Ambala Cantonment was expanding at a rapid pace. A survey must be conducted to find out locations along the ring road, where the HSVP sectors can be developed, else the illegal colonies will get developed. The minister further said the property dealers sold land, reap profits and people were left without basic amenities, such as drains, roads, power and water supply. Later, residents approached the government for basic amenities, making it a difficult task for the administration to make provisions in the developed colonies. Hence, it must be treated as most important and a survey should be conducted to find out the locations where the sectors can be developed.
The minister has also sent a letter to Additional Chief Secretary Town and Country Planning, and Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Local Body, expressing unhappiness over development of illegal colonies in Ambala.
The minister mentioned that it had come to his notice, that land grabbers had been developing illegal colonies in Ambala with no focus on basic amenities. The minister said that a committee must be formed to conduct a survey regarding the illegal colonies and to find out on whose directions, these were being developed and to take action against illegal development of colonies.
Speaking to The Tribune, Vij said: “The population is on the rise and more sectors are required in Ambala Cantonment. We have experienced in the past that the property dealers develop the illegal colonies and people face difficulties later. So, I have sent letters to the HSVP to develop new sectors along the ring road so that there is no mushrooming of illegal colonies. Another letter is also sent to the ULB and Town and Country Planning Department the put a complete ban on illegal colonies in Ambala Cantonment. Mushrooming of illegal colonies can’t be allowed as it affects the city.”
