Vij seeks resolution on Sunita Williams' safe return in Haryana Assembly
Haryana Energy, Labour and Transport Minister Anil Vij expressed happiness over the safe return of astronaut Sunita Williams following her successful space mission. During the Budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today, he suggested that the House should formally convey its happiness on Sunita Williams' safe return.
Vij informed the House that Williams and her team members had returned to Earth after a prolonged mission and that the House should pass a resolution to express its happiness over their safe return.
He also highlighted that Williams has strong roots in India and consistently shows respect for Indian culture and traditions during each of her space missions. “She carried the Srimad Bhagavad Gita with her on every journey into space, she even took 'samosas' with her. Her father hails from Gujarat and she remains to her Indian roots,” he said, adding that the team of scientists and experts who worked to ensure the safe return of Williams and the others despite their prolonged stay of nine months and 14 days in the space, too, deserve an applause.
This was greeted by a thumping of desks by the treasury and opposition benches alike. Speaker Harvinder Kalyan also expressed his support for the resolution and assured that best wishes and congratulations from the Haryana Assembly would be conveyed to Sunita Williams and her entire team.
