Vij skips Sirsa grievance meet again, supporters disappointed

Cabinet Minister Anil Vij has once again cancelled his visit to Sirsa, leading to the postponement of the district grievance committee meeting that was scheduled for October 31. The move has left local residents and supporters disappointed, as they had been waiting for months to get their complaints resolved.

According to officials from the district administration, the meeting was called off due to the upcoming ‘Run for Unity’ programme. “A new date for the session will be announced later,” officials said.

This marks the second time this year that the Sirsa grievance meeting has been postponed due to Vij’s absence. The last scheduled meeting, on January 31, 2025, was also cancelled. As a result, residents have now been waiting nearly 11 months for their issues to be heard.

Vij, who serves as Minister for Power, Transport and Labour, last attended a grievance meeting in Sirsa in November 2024, shortly after the BJP formed its third government in Haryana. Since then, he has not visited the district, leaving many complaints unresolved.

Officials said around 17 complaints from different departments were to be discussed during the October 31 session, which was planned to begin at 12:30 pm at the local Panchayat Bhawan. “All arrangements had been made and the departments concerned and complainants had been invited,” said an official.

Residents expressed frustration after learning of the cancellation. “We were hopeful that the minister’s visit would finally help resolve our long-pending complaints. Now we’ll have to wait again,” said one resident.

The administration has assured that a new date for the meeting will be fixed soon. However, locals say repeated postponements have dampened their confidence in the grievance redressal process.
