Violators to be prosecuted, warns govt

In view of the suspected outbreak of black fungus among Covid patients, the state government has warned of action against persons or institutions found violating the Haryana Epidemic Disease (Mucormycosis) Regulations, 2021.

The violators will be prosecuted under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, and Section 188 of the IPC.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rajeev Arora said a committee to review violations would be constituted under the chairmanship of the Civil Surgeon in each district.

He further said the regulations would remain valid for a year from the date of its publication. As per the regulations, all healthcare facilities will report every suspected or confirmed case of black fungus to the Health Department through the Civil Surgeon concerned. — TNS
