Virat Swaroop statue unveiled at Jyotisar

Kurukshetra, June 30

The 40-ft tall Virat Swaroop of Lord Krishna was unveiled and dedicated to devotees and tourists at the Jyotisar Tirtha, the birthplace of Gita, on Thursday.

The project has come at a cost of Rs 13.63 crore. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat unveiled the statue. The CM, while addressing a gathering at the Gita Gyan Sansthanam where a seminar on the topic ‘Relevance of Gita in the present times’ was organised, said, “Kurukshetra is known as the land of Mahabharata but it must also be known as the land of Gita and land of Krishna. People who go to Mathura and Vrindavan to understand Krishna should also come to Kurukshetra as this is the place where he delivered the sermon of Gita. A world-class museum will come up here. It has been decided to celebrate Shri Krishna Utsav on the pattern of International Gita Mahotsav. The Centre and state governments have been making efforts to develop Kurukshetra as Divya Kurukshetra.” The Haryana Governor said, “Gita is universal and its message will remain relevant for all times to come.” Mohan Bhagwat said, “Gita is not limited to one community. Although Gita is in the Hindu tradition, there is no patent of any kind on it, and we have it to give it to the world.”
