The wait to get a multimedia laser show and advanced security system at Brahma Sarovar is getting longer. The multimedia show is among the major projects which were planned to increase the footfall and evening attraction at Brahma Sarovar. Currently, only an evening Aarti is performed at the Brahma Sarovar.
For the multimedia show, a budget of Rs 16 crore, while for the advanced security system, a budget of Rs 9 crore, received under the Krishna Circuit are to be utilised.
In 2017, it was decided to get a permanent show so that there was no need to make any temporary arrangements during the International Gita Mahotsav. The multi-media show was to be developed by the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and a tender was also awarded to a firm in 2020 but the entire project came to a standstill over the objection related to the base of the structure.
To improve the security of tourists and devotees, the government had decided to introduce a security system having advanced artificial intelligence-enabled CCTV cameras for surveillance, and face recognition technology. As many as 118 cameras covering an area of around 400-acre are to be installed.
Madan Mohan Chhabra, honorary secretary of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), said, “Both projects are very important for the KDB. While the show will help us in increasing the evening attraction and footfall at Brahma Sarovar, the advanced security system will help us in strengthening the safety of lakhs of tourists and devotees who reach here every year. Both projects have got delayed and we are taking up the matter with the Tourism Department.” The Xen, Tourism Department, Gautam Kumar, said, “Following a delay in the multi-media show project, the department has asked the ITDC to refund the budget. Since a tender was already awarded it is taking some time in winding up. ”
