Waiting hall for attendants at Rohtak PGIMS set to open soon
The newly constructed waiting hall for patients' attendants at Pt BD Sharma PGIMS in Rohtak is set to open soon as its construction work has been completed and the authorities are planning its inauguration.
The waiting hall is located near the Modular Operation Theater and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It will especially benefit attendants of those patients who are admitted at the Modular OT, the ICU and Radiology Department in the PGIMS. The waiting hall has been developed over 2143.69 sq m at a cost of Rs 57.56 lakh, said Dr HK Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor, University of Health Sciences (UHS), here while talking to ‘The Tribune’ on Saturday.
“No proper space was available forattendants adjacent to the Modular OT and the ICU, where they can sit comfortably. In this situation, they had to sit at any other place while some of them had to stay at Vishram Sadan located some distance away from there, so there was an acute need of a waiting hall here for the attendants,” said Dr Aggawal.
The VC informed that the waiting hall would have the facilities of toilets, store room, potable water, round-the-clock electricity, benches and fans so that attendants do not face any issue there.
“It will be opened next week, keeping in view severe cold conditions. The work to install a mike system for the announcement in the waiting hall is under way and it is likely to be completed within a couple of days. Except it, all other works have been completed here,” said Dr Aggarwal, adding that any other facility if needed by the attendants would also be made available there.
In reply to a question, the VC said all unauthorised entries to the PGIMS campus would be closed in order to strengthen the security there while security personnel would be deployed at other entry points where they would note down the registration number of every vehicle coming to the PGIMS, he added.
