The Haryana Government on Sunday beefed up security and ordered suspension of mobile Internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district for 24 hours ahead of the Jalabhishek Yatra that was marred by violence last year.
Though according to the local authorities and the police there were no inputs on disturbance of any kind erupting during the yatra, the government was taking precautionary steps to ensure peace in the district.
The mobile Internet service in the district would remain suspended for 24 hours from 6 pm on Sunday, according to an order by Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anurag Rastogi. The local administration has also barred the entry of cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi in Nuh. He has been ordered not to take part in the yatra. Bajrangi is one of the key accused who allegedly instigated the Nuh violence last year.
The Nuh police and Gurugram police also plan to keep the proposed route of the yatra under drone surveillance. The police have conduced flag marches and special teams are being stationed at vulnerable points. The Nuh administration has barred carrying of arms/sticks and playing of loud music during the yatra. There is a complete ban on speeches also.
“Everything is under control and we are taking precautions to ensure a peaceful yatra.Participants have strictly been advised against any hooliganism,” Nuh DC Dhirender Khadgata told The Tribune.
Politicians to stay away?
The right-wing outfits had planned to rope in BJP leaders, including Haryana CM Nayab Saini, for the Jalabhishek Yatra, but they have not confirmed their participation so far. Sources claimed due to the administration’s ban on speeches, most politicians were not keen on taking part in the yatra.
