Bhuna town in Fatehabad, which had been battling severe waterlogging for the past week, finally saw some relief as water was drained from several key areas under administrative supervision.

Continuous round-the-clock efforts by the engineering wing have cleared stagnant water from important locations, including Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk, Purana Bazaar, Gurudwara Sahib, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and Nehru Park. The water level on the Sirsa–Chandigarh Road has also dropped significantly. Once submerged under nearly two feet of water, only about half a foot now remains near Shaheed Chandrashekhar Park.

However, many areas in the town remain waterlogged. From Aggarsain Chowk on Hisar Road to the BSNL Telephone Exchange, water levels are still over three feet. Similarly, Model Town, Chandan Nagar, Ward 11, Dhamija Colony, Shyam Vihar, Maturam Colony and Dhani Sanchla–Bhojraj Road continue to face serious water accumulation, with only minor reductions reported.

District Monitoring Committee officer and nodal officer for waterlogging, Sanjay Bishnoi, said the situation was expected to return to normal by Saturday afternoon.

Drainage operations are under way at full capacity with five heavy-duty electric motor pumps, over 20 tractor-mounted pumps, two engine pumps and an extensive 20,000-foot pipeline network. The drive is being carried out under the joint supervision of the Public Health Engineering Department and the Municipal Committee.

Local public representatives, including the Chairperson’s representative, Vice-Chairperson and several councillors, have been on the ground throughout the week, many working through the night. The administration expressed confidence that by Saturday most of the water would be cleared, allowing residents to return to normal life.
