We breached Congress bastions in Haryana, claims OP Dhankar

State BJP president OP Dhankar today welcomed the party members, who were elected presidents of Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees yesterday, in Chandigarh today. Thereafter, they all went to meet CM Manohar Lal Khattar at his residence.

While talking to reporters, Dhankar said, “It is a blessing of the people. People have accepted our slogan of the triple engine.”

When asked whether he was satisfied with the results, he replied, “In politics, you never get satiated. There is always a feeling of ‘dil mange more’.”

Despite having no competitor as the Congress skipped the poll, the BJP lost in Karnal and in areas of few ministers. Dhankar replied, “Wherever we relied on natural choices, we won. Where we went against the natural choices, we lost.”

In Karnal, the home district of the CM, the saffron party lost three out of four municipalities.

“We managed to breach the strongholds of the Congress,” he said. The BJP won 22 presidents’ posts on its symbol and has claimed that its supported three Independents have won too. The elections were held for 46 municipalities.
