After light rain and thunderstorm in parts of Haryana, the weather turned dry on Saturday and is likely to remain the same over the next few days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Hisar at 36.4°C. In most districts, maximum temperatures ranged between 32°C and 34°C, with relatively cooler readings of 30°C to 32°C reported from parts of Ambala and Yamunanagar. Warmer temperatures, ranging from 34°C to 36°C, were observed in districts like Bhiwani, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Rewari, and Jhajjar besides Hisar.
“Maximum temperatures showed departures from normal in the range of -1.5°C to 1.5°C,” said an IMD official. However, certain parts of Karnal and Panipat recorded cooler-than-usual temperatures, with deviations between -3.0°C and -1.6°C.
The lowest minimum temperature was observed in Karnal at 14.5°C. In general, minimum temperatures across most of Haryana were between 18°C and 20°C, while slightly higher values, ranging from 20°C to 22°C, were recorded in areas such as Panchkula, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Sonepat, Mahendragarh, Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Nuh, and Palwal.
In Sirsa, the night was particularly cold, with minimum temperatures dipping between 10°C and 12°C. “Normal temperature departures for minimum readings were mostly within -1.5°C to 1.5°C,” the IMD said, adding that below-normal minimum temperatures — ranging from -3.0°C to -1.6°C — were reported in Hisar, Rohtak, Sonepat, Jhajjar, Faridabad, Gurgaon, and Palwal.
The IMD had earlier predicted that variable weather would continue until April 12, due to the lingering impact of a western disturbance. On Friday, southern and western Haryana witnessed partly cloudy skies and moderate winds, while northern parts saw isolated light showers and thunderstorm.
Looking ahead, the IMD forecasts dry weather conditions across the state from April 13 to 16. “Northwesterly and westerly winds are expected to prevail, which may cause a slight increase in daytime temperatures,” the department added.
