She urged parents to be more attentive and supportive in nurturing their children. She was speaking as the chief guest at a state-level award ceremony held at Dr Mangal Sen Auditorium here on Friday, organised by the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare.

Gupta extended her best wishes to the award-winning children. She highlighted the importance of instilling moral values and self-reliance in children, encouraging parents and educators to encourage children’s interests.

“Children are the future of our nation, and helping them grow into responsible and educated citizens is vital,” she said.

The council continuously introduced creative programmes to promote child welfare, and secure a brighter future for children, Gupta added.

She said, through the initiatives of the council, many children were showcasing their talents and earning recognition at the state and national levels.

“Patriotic songs and school-level activities serve as a source of inspiration,” she said, adding that over 25,000 children had participated in district, divisional and state-level competitions in 2024.

Out of these, 378 children — 104 boys and 274 girls — were felicitated at the ceremony.

Karnal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vaishali Sharma, as a special guest at the event, highlighted the competitive nature of today’s world and urged parents to recognise and support children’s interests.

“Every child is unique and talented — they just need the right encouragement and opportunities,” she said, commending the council’s continued efforts in organising talent-focused events.

City Magistrate Monika congratulated the winning children and wished them success in their future endeavours.

At the beginning of the event, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad.
