Illegal activities on rise in Karnal

Illegal activities like prostitution, drug abuse and gambling are increasing day by day in the city. Such immoral businesses are going on not only in hotels and spa centres, but also in private places. The surprising thing is that along with men, women are also involved in running such immoral businesses, examples of which are in front of the general public. The authorities concerned must take strict action against people involved in such immoral acts. Those helping them in such illegal activities should also be taught a lesson. Women and young girls, who are driven into immoral acts due to financial compulsion, should be saved from this social evil. Concrete measures should be taken to enable them earn a livelihood with dignity.

Tardy garbage lifting in Ambala City

A huge heap of garbage lies in close proximity of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Manav Chowk, Ambala City. It also diminishes space for parking of vehicles. The Municipal Corporation (MC) had given Ambala City a three-star rating in maintaining cleanliness four years ago after which the city's rank dropped considerably. Now, city's rank is nowhere in the first 10. It is responsibility of the MC to ensure cleanliness and make proper arrangements for regular lifting of waste in the city. The PNB is located at Manav Chowk, a hub for various business activities. Is it not bank's responsibility to ensure cleanliness? Banks have sufficient funds which can be used for maintaining sanitation. I don't think the corporation has ever challaned any person for littering in the open. Nobody knows where stakeholders of Swachhata Abhiyan have gone. The MC should take note of such issues and ensure proper disposal of waste.
