Alarge number of cement benches purchased by the local municipal council a few years back at a huge cost, are lying abandoned and neglected in some localities of Kaithal town. These benches were purchased to be used by town residents at public places like parks. The elected councillors procured these benches from the council to be kept at sites of their choice for the benefit of residents. Surprisingly, many such benches were taken away by shopkeepers and put outside their shops for their personal use while others remained neglected at isolated places. The council authorities should step in to check misuse and take steps to ensure use of council’s property for public use only.
