What our readers say: Farmers suffer as veggie prices crash

Like every year, rates of almost all seasonal vegetables such as cauliflower, carrots, reddish, spinach, cabbage etc. have crashed due to which it has become a challenging task for the farmers to even recover their actual cost of growing these vegetables. Cauliflower is selling at Rs 3 and carrots, reddish at Rs 5 and tomatoes at rate Rs 10 per kg. In some villages, the farmers have abandoned their vegetables crops as they find it non-remunerative to uproot, wash and transport the produce to the vegetable markets. The HSAMB should come to the rescue of the farmers by buying these vegetables at appropriate price so that the farmers can at least recover their actual cost of growing these vegetables. Why use private publishers’ books in schools?

flouting the prevailing law, private publishers' books are still being used at government schools across the state. It seems that the officials concerned have been neglecting enforcement. Strict action against violators and a ban on such books should be taken under the provisions of the Haryana Education Rules 2003 (amended in 2021), mandating NCERT/SCERT or board-approved books in private schools. I have written to the Director of Secondary Education, Panchkula, Director of Elementary Education, Panchkula, CBSE Secretary, SCERT Director Gurugram, secretary of the Board of School Education, Haryana in this regard.
