GREEN belts in the city are being encroached upon with impunity. Not only have several of these encroached upon to set up liquor vends and stalls, some have virtually turned into garbage dumps. This has damaged the green cover of the city, resulting in acute pollution. Littering in the open at Devi Lalan Nagar
while visiting Devi Lalan Nagar, I spotted heaps of garbage littered about. This trash gives off a foul smell, making passers by nauseous. The garbage has not been cleared for quite some time. Waterlogging outside Karna stadium breeding ground for mosquitoes
WATERLOGGING outside the Karna Stadium has turned the area into a breeding ground for mosquitoes, raising health concerns among residents. Due to the poor drainage, water has collected there, creating ideal conditions for mosquito larvae breeding. Residents have raised the issue with the authorities concerned multiple times, but to no avail. The situation is a health hazard, especially with cases of dengue and malaria being on the rise. —Anuj Singhal, Karnal
Flyover walls defaced in K’shetra
THE Haryana Government has spent lakhs on beautifying the walls of flyovers in Pipli, Kurukshetra, but grafitti by a hotel, the ABVP and a few others have defaced these walls. Also, there is no footpath for pilgrims in the town. This has become the state of the holy town, which is visited by people from across the world.
