A contractor was paid Rs 1.02 crore by the Nagar Parishad for catching and transporting 6,000 monkeys at the rate of Rs 1,700 per monkey. However, despite this substantial payment, Narwana remains overrun with monkeys, seemingly untouched by the contractor’s efforts. In response to public outcry, the authorities have now ordered a vigilance investigation into the matter. The key question remains: how was such a large sum paid when the problem persists?

Karnal Commissioner sans permanent office

SINCE Karnal became a new division in 2017, a Commissioner was appointed to oversee administrative and quasi-judicial matters. However, nearly eight years later, no permanent office or courtroom has been established for the Commissioner. Currently, the Commissioner’s camp office is located in the Canal Rest House, while the Collector’s court room is temporarily used for judicial proceedings. This situation causes significant inconvenience to the public. The Haryana Government must address this issue by constructing a modern office and court room near the judicial complex and the mini secretariat.

The stray dog menace in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri is rapidly worsening, with packs of dogs roaming freely across both towns. When approached, the dogs often become aggressive, attacking pedestrians, especially lone individuals and children. The local Municipal Corporation must take urgent action to resolve this issue and ensure public safety.
