WITH the demand and consumption of power surging drastically, cases of power thefts have increased. Sarita Vihar in South Delhi has become accustomed to power outages as thefts and line losses have become frequent, perhaps due to the ‘kundi culture’ in several congested colonies and slum areas. While the power pilferage leads to fluctuations in supply and low voltage during the peak hours of consumption, the authorities are yet to come out with a solid and long-term plan to control the problem. —Devinder Singh, New Delhi

Accountability needed

THE recurring waterlogging in Gurugram tells the same story year after year, regardless of which party is in power. The monsoon season brings massive destruction, and many lives are lost. Politicians use this as an opportunity to blame each other, but the harsh reality is that all are equally responsible. Why do people accept this without complaint? Unless they wake up and demand accountability, the government will continue to let this problem persist indefinitely. It’s time for the people to protest. —Ramesh Gupta, Gurugram

Deplorable condition of roads in Rohtak

Many roads in Rohtak city are in a bad shape due to the lack of maintenance, and the recent spells of rain have worsened the condition. The potholed stretches must be repaired for the commuters’ convenience. The authorities concerned should take action at the earliest. —Geeta Ram, Rohtak

Awareness drive must for drivers

There has been a rise in the traffic rule violations in Karnal. People do not follow traffic rules and regulations while driving on the state and national highways. A campaign should be run to create awareness on safe driving and strict action must be taken against the violators. —Shakti Singh, Karnal
