Urban waste management is a pressing issue that affects the health and hygiene of our cities. Overflowing garbage bins, improper segregation and lack of awareness have turned this into a major civic concern. However, with the right motivation and guidance, change is possible. 'Parivartan', a tried and tested initiative, offers a sustainable solution to the problem. The project emphasises waste segregation at the source, recycling and community involvement to turn trash into valuable resources. It has successfully transformed waste into wealth in many regions, creating cleaner environment and livelihoods. Highlighting such initiatives can inspire others to replicate these efforts, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future. Together, we can make this vision a reality.

Commendable step by HC collegium

THE Punjab and Haryana High Court Collegium has taken a commendable step by recommending 15 District and Sessions Judges for promotion to the High Court amid a shortage of 40 per cent judges and more than 4.32 lakh pending cases. At present, the High Court has only 51 judges against the 85 sanctioned posts, while three more judges are going to retire this year. Appointment of the judges is a long and complicated process. The judiciary, Centre and both state governments are requested to fill the vacant judge posts in the High Court as soon as possible and provide speedy justice to the citizens of the country.
