STRAY cattle have become a major source of nuisance in Rohtak city. These strays roam on roads and in crowded marketplaces, posing risk to commuters’ lives. While cattle taking over roads is commonplace in the countryside these animals have also been spotted on the premises of government buildings such as a government health facility in Rohtak. The authorities concerned should take effective actions to curb the menace. SURENDER KUMAR, Rohtak

Poor drainage ailing civic infrastructure

THE defective and ineffective drainage system at most of the public places such as the roads cause roads to get waterlogged even after light rain. Instead of finding a solution to the problem and mitigating it at the primary-level, the authorities concerned seem to be concerned over finding short-term measures. This results in the wastage of funds each year. As the menace of poor drainage persists despite spending several crores by the civic agencies each year, cleaning, repairing and relaying the drainage network is the need of the hour and is required to be addressed effectively and immediately. Child labour needs to be checked

ONE can spot children working at restaurants, dhabas, shops and stalls in the city, while they are visible at these places, many children also work at factories and other places which are away from the public’s eyes. Effective measures should be taken to end child labour and to ensure that all children get a good education so that they can break the shackles of child labour and build a bright future for themselves and the country. Ensure Safety of bus passengers

EMPHASIS should be laid by the authorities concerned to ensure safety of bus passengers. Overcrowding is a serious hazard for passengers travelling in buses, especially with people climbing onto roofs amid the lack of space. This practice can lead to fatal mishaps. The authorities concerned should penalise operators who flout safety norms with impunity. Dev Malhotra, Kaithal
