Wheat, mustard lifting in full swing at Jhajjar mandis
The process of lifting mustard and wheat procured during the current rabi season is progressing steadily across mandis in Jhajjar district. Procurement agencies have so far lifted 83% of the wheat and 95% of the mustard from the grain markets.
Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya informed that out of the 1,96,805 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat that has arrived at various mandis, 1,80,000 MT has been purchased. “Of this, 83% of the wheat has already been lifted,” he said.
Likewise, 33,876 MT of mustard has been procured against a total arrival of 35,094 MT. “Out of this, 95% has already been lifted from grain markets and procurement centres,” Dahiya added.
Emphasising the importance of timely and proper storage, the Deputy Commissioner directed procurement agency officials to plan efficiently to prevent delays in the lifting process.
He also instructed Market Committee officials to ensure that all basic amenities are made available to farmers in the mandis. “Adequate arrangements, such as tarpaulins, must be in place to ensure the proper upkeep of the procured produce,” he said.
