Will end ‘inspector raj’, ensure security to traders: Haryana ex-CM Bhupinder Hooda

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday said the traders are the pillars of society and development in the state. “If the traders are strong, society will be strong, the state will be strong and the farmers will also be strong,” he stressed.

Addressing a gathering at the state-level traders’ programme here, Hooda announced that if the Congress came to power, it would end the “inspector raj” and provide full security to traders.

He said the BJP government was trying to attack the traders in the state with a double blow. “Inspector raj, which was abolished by the Congress, has been re-established by the BJP and the law and order in the state has collapsed,” he added.

Hooda said the Congress government had reduced the market fee on maize and sunflower from 4 per cent to 1 per cent, and that on potatoes, onions and other vegetables was made zero. It was the Congress government that waived Rs 38 crore of H Form with a stroke of the pen,” he stated.

Haryana was the number one state in the country on every scale of development, including per capita income, per capita investment, employment, law and order, sports and welfare of sportspersons. However, today the BJP has made the state number one in crime, unemployment, inflation and drug addiction. That is why the business class will have to come forward to oust the BJP from power, he said.

Congress state president Udai Bhan said the BJP had hit traders so hard with demonetisation and GST, that they had not been able to recover to date. “This government has continuously looted taxes from the business class. Haryana alone contributes 7 per cent of the total GST from the whole country to the Central Government. But in return, the state gets only 1 per cent of the share,” he pointed out.
