Will recruit talented players into police soon, says DGP
The 74th All-India Police Wrestling Cluster (2025–26) was inaugurated on Saturday at Vachher Stadium of Haryana Police Academy (HPA), Madhuban, by Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur made a major announcement for budding players of the state about inducting them into the police. “With special approval from the state government, the Haryana Police will soon conduct a special recruitment drive to induct international and national-level players into the force to encourage youth participation in sports.”
The cluster will feature competitions in arm-wrestling, bodybuilding, boxing and wrestling for both men and women. A total of 35 teams from across the country will compete for medals in their respective categories. The tournament will continue till September 24. Meanwhile, players from different states took part in a march-past with the Governor taking the salute.
In his inaugural address, the Governor highlighted the importance of sports in holistic human development. He said that sports play a vital role in inculcating discipline, which is of utmost significance in a disciplined force like the police.
The Governor said that such events serve as an example of unity in diversity and praised the Haryana Police for consistently contributing to the state’s sporting excellence. He commended police personnel who have brought laurels to the state and the nation at both national and international levels.
The DGP underlined the challenges faced by the police force in their day-to-day duties and praised the determination of personnel who balance their professional responsibilities with sports.
