Will send all children to school, villagers promise Kaithal DC, SP
Under the government’s overnight stay programmes in rural areas, Kaithal Deputy Commissioner (DC) Preeti and Superintendent of Police (SP) Astha Modi held an interaction with residents of Dohar village on Wednesday. The purpose of the meeting was to address grassroots concerns.
During the interaction, the DC and SP engaged in an open dialogue with villagers, focusing on eradicating social evils like drug abuse, promoting education and encouraging adherence to traffic rules. Villagers assured full support in ending drug abuse, committed to sending all children to school and pledged to follow traffic rules. The village panchayat, led by Sarpanch Geeta, welcomed the officials and submitted demands including repair of the damaged drinking water pipeline, closure of illegal liquor shops and the establishment of a library in the village.
Several residents also raised issues related to pensions, Ayushman Bharat cards, electricity connections, Happy Cards, housing schemes and hanging power lines. The DC assured prompt resolution of these issues and emphasised the government’s commitment to grassroots governance.In her address, DC Preeti urged villagers to prevent minors from driving vehicles, ensure school enrolment and practice road safety. She also praised a local girl who secured admission to IIT, calling it a sign of rising educational awareness in the village. She reiterated the state’s firm stance against drugs and encouraged citizens to report any illicit activity.
SP Aastha Modi emphasised that the police force would work to combat crime. She led villagers in taking an anti-drug oath and urged families to take responsibility of keeping their homes drug-free.
Additional DC Deepak Babulal Karwa encouraged farmers to shift from traditional crops like wheat and rice to diversified farming. He urged residents to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana for free electricity and to support water conservation efforts.
