With no trace of missing minor girl, family starts dharna for third time
As the special investigation team (SIT) is yet to get any clue about the missing 16-year-old girl, her family resumed dharna for the third time at the mini secretariat in Hisar today.
The girl had gone missing from her home on September 29. but there has been no trace of the girl till today. Her family members had also attempted self-immolation outside the gate of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) on January 9 during the visit of the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Afterwards, the district police formed an SIT to probe the matter.
DSP (Headquarters) Kamaljeet Singh, who is heading the SIT, said the police had been making all-out efforts to trace the girl. “We have questioned the youth whose name figured in the case on the basis of the statements of the family. But we have been unable to get any clue so far,” he said.
The victim's family alleged that they had been striving for justice and searching for the girl for the past three and a half months. “It seems the SIT, too, has failed to find our daughter. We have little option but to appeal to the police and the administration. We are also making all efforts to trace her,” said the girl's father Sunil Soni while sitting on the dharna.
The family had earlier staged a dharna outside the mini secretariat for three days in November and ended it after assurance by the police. Later, the family again resumed dharna at the same spot and stayed put for 14 days in December. It was again assured of locating the girl by the SDM and DSP.
However, feeling dejected after a prolonged struggle, the family met the CM during his visit to the HAU on January 9.
