The Haryana Government has ordered the vice-chancellors of all state universities to withhold the recruitment processes initiated at the universities with immediate effect.
The Principal Secretary (Higher Education), Haryana, has shot off a communique in this regard to the vice-chancellors of all state universities in the state.
The communique, a copy of which is in possession of The Tribune, points out that vide orders dated September 29, 2024, the state universities were allowed to continue the recruitment process initiated before the imposition of the model code of conduct.
“However, in view of the numerous complaints that have been received alleging possibility of favouritism that may prove beneficial to some candidates in the forthcoming elections in Haryana, the matter has been reconsidered and it has now been decided to stop all the ongoing recruitment processes immediately, irrespective of any stage, in all state universities of Haryana,” states the communique.
It, however, adds that the recruitment processes may be resumed immediately after the model code of conduct is lifted.
On the other hand, the authorities of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, initiated the recruitment process two days prior to the issuance of the fresh communique by the state government. Letters were mailed to certain applicants for faculty positions at the university on Tuesday, inviting them for interview at 2 pm on October 8.
The results of the Haryana Assembly elections are slated to be announced on October 8, following which the model code is likely to be lifted. The MDU administration had initiated the recruitment process earlier as well, despite the enforcement of the model code.
