Woman among 3 held for cyber fraud in Gurugram

The Gurugram cyber police have arrested three accused, including a woman, who had provided bank account details to fraudsters. The police have recovered three mobile phones with SIM cards, three ATM cards, eight cheque books and 11 bank passbooks from their possession.

According to the police, a man had filed a complaint on February 13, stating that he was trapped into cyber fraud while searching the inquiry number of India Post. The caller had defrauded him of Rs 95,000. Following the complaint, an FIR was registered in the regard.

During investigation, the cyber police arrested three accused in Delhi on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Nilofar, a native of Begumpur in Kanpur district; Abhishek Kumar Mishra, a resident of Chatai Mohal in Kanpur; and Harshit Shukla, a resident of Gopinathpuram Shuklaganj in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.

“During police interrogation, it was revealed that all these accused had got Aadhaar Cards made on a Delhi address and through these cards, they had opened many bank accounts in their names. The accused would make those accounts available to cyber thugs, for which they would get Rs 5000 for one bank account. We are questioning the accused,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP (Cyber).
