Woman killed, four family members hurt in accident

A woman died while four of her family members sustained injuries in a road accident in the Sanoli area on Wednesday evening after a speeding car hit two motorcycles. The police registered a case on Thursday and began a probe into the matter.

The deceased has been identified as Santra of Jalalpur-1 village in Sanoli, while the injured are Sandeep, his wife Arti and his brothers Kuldeep and Pradeep.

Ajay, also from Jalalpur-1, lodged a complaint with the police stating that his brother Sandeep, along with their mother Santra and Sandeep’s wife Arti, was riding on one motorcycle. Their brothers Kuldeep and Pradeep and nephew Priyanshu, were on another motorcycle, while Ajay himself was on a third vehicle. They were returning home after taking medicine for Priyanshu from Panipat.

When the family reached near a banquet hall on Nawada-Sanoli road, a speeding car from the opposite direction rammed into the motorcycles carrying Sandeep and Pradeep. All riders were thrown onto the road. Ajay noted the registration number of the car. With the help of people gathered at the scene, he rushed the injured to a private hospital, where doctors declared his mother Santra dead.

Acting on his complaint, the Sanoli police registered a case against the unidentified car driver. The body was handed over to the family.
