Woman killed in Panipat roof collapse
A woman was killed and her husband sustained serious injuries after a roof collapsed in the Sunder Nagar area in Panipat City in the wee hours on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Ruby (42) and her injured husband has been identified as Surender. The couple hailed from Bihar and was living in a rented accommodation here for the past 5-6 years.
As per the information available, the incident occurred at 3.10 am on Friday when the couple was sleeping. The roof collapsed as the soil and wood got weakened due to heavy rain. Both victims were stuck under the debris. The neighbours gathered on hearing the noise and first rescued Surender from the debris. After that, they rescued Ruby and admitted them to a private hospital. The doctors there referred the woman to the civil hospital where doctors declared her dead.
On getting information, the police reached the spot and sent the body to the mortuary.
