According to the complaint filed by Taresh Vijayaran, the brother of the deceased woman, Ritu, she got married to Rohit, a resident of Gurgaon Village, in 2007. On December 30, Taresh received information that Ritu had fallen from the roof and died.

“Last Monday, my sister called me in tears. She told me that her husband Rohit, mother-in-law Kanta and father-in-law Rajbir were beating her up. Later, I was informed that Ritu had jumped from the terrace. However, my sister was pushed from the fourth floor, leading to her death,” Taresh alleged in his complaint.

Based on his statement, an FIR was registered on Tuesday. After conducting a postmortem, the police handed over Ritu’s body to her family. Rohit and his father Rajbir were arrested on Tuesday, while Kanta, Rohit’s mother, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

“We have taken the main accused, Rohit, on one-day police remand, while his parents have been sent to judicial custody after being presented in court. Further investigation is underway,” said Inspector Sukhbir Singh, SHO of Sector 5 police station. — OC
