Faridabad, June 13
The police have found two bodies, including that of an elderly woman, from a house in sector 3 here. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
The deceased include a 42-year-old man and his 75-year-old mother. The matter came to light last night after neighbours informed the police that a foul smell was coming from the house.
“Foul smell was emanating from the house when I reached there to meet a neighbour living next to the house of the deceased. That made me inform the police immediately,” said Rattan Lal Rana, a local resident.
He said that the woman, identified as Asha Devi, had been sick for a long time and was bedridden. She had been living with her son Tarun Kumar for the past several years.
It is suspected that Tarun, who was unmarried and had been in the habit of drinking, might have died due to excessive drinking a few days ago. His mother, being bedridden, might have died as there was no one to help her after her son’s death.
As the elderly woman had no contact with any neighbour, it was Tarun who used to give her food and water daily. Though Tarun used to work part time, it is reported that the duo was mainly dependent on the pension of Tarun’s father, who had expired some years ago.
The police have sent the bodies for the post-mortem examination. A police official said that the death of the man a few days ago appears to have led to the death of the woman also as she failed to inform anyone or contact any kin. The police have informed the woman’s daughter residing in Dubai and another son residing in Delhi about the incident.
