Dr Mamta Sachdeva, the Kurukshetra president of the Maitreyi branch of the Bharat Vikas Parishad, on Sunday said the real development of a society was possible only when the women of the society were empowered with equal rights.

Addressing a social service programme at Kurukshetra University under the aegis of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Maitreyi branch, Kurukshetra, Dr Sachdeva said, “Until women get equal status in society, it cannot develop in its full form. Empowering women is the foundation of true societal progress. Women gaining equal rights is a vital step toward a just and inclusive society.”

Indian culture had been aware of women empowerment for centuries, she added, stating that there was power in the very existence of women.

Ratna Chand Sardana, as the chief guest at the event, laid special emphasis on organisational unity, the spirit of service and cooperation.

Atul Goyal, as the special guest, delved into the establishment, objectives and various activities and rules of Bharat Vikas Parishad.

Branch secretary Dr Neelam Dhanda said, during the programme, study material was distributed to girl students in need.
