The block-level women sports competition was organised under the aegis of the Women and Child Development Department in Bahadurgarh town here on Wednesday to encourage women to play games.
Saroj Rathee, Chairperson, Bahadurgarh Municipal Council, inaugurated the event and called on the participants to give their best.
The race events, including 100m, 300m and 400m, were organised for women below 30 years of age. At the same time, competitions such as musical chair, cycling, and discus throw were held for women above 30 years. The women participated enthusiastically in the competition and demonstrated their talent.
Priyanka, Project Officer, Women and Child Development Department, said Kavita came first in 100m event while Menaka came second and Poonam third.
“In 300m race, Nisha secured first, Seema second and Anshu third while Manorama stood first in the 400m race, Deepika second and Sonika third. Rambhateri was first in cycling, Anju second and Sonia third. Similarly, Madhuri was first in discus throw competition, Santosh second and Nirmala third. Sunita was first in the musical chair, Sunita Dalal second and Anita third,” she added.
The chief guest felicitated the winners and wished them a bright future stating that such events were important steps towards women's empowerment.
