Work together to bring co-op societies into profit: Minister

The Co-operations Minister Dr Arvind Sharma was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the district-level co-operative awareness campaign in Gohana on Thursday. The Co-operatives Department had geared up to bring primary agricultural cooperative societies into profit, he said. “We will make the youth, especially women, self-reliant and will work to make them job providers instead of job seekers,” he added.

The minister said a special action plan was being prepared to bring primary co-operative societies in the state into profit on the lines of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

“Our goal is to provide information about every scheme of co-operative societies to farmers, women and youth, so that they can decide in which scheme they can become self-reliant,” the minister added.

Dr Sharma said the products of co-operative societies were being sold in the Army cantts and abroad in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

He said that co-operative societies had to repay loans on time and work together to bring them into profit through better marketing system. “The Co-operative Department is considering that the youth should start their own work by selling the products of co-operative institutions at private places so that they can generate self-employment,” he asserted.

Sharma inaugurated three schemes, which were launched by Sonepat Central Cooperative Bank Limited, ‘mhare bujurg-mhari dharohar’, ‘veerangana Laxmibai bachat yojana’ and ‘nari shakti utthan yojana’.

Overwhelmed with the crowd, the Cabinet Minister directed to continue the awareness campaign in Gohana till Saturday.
