According to the police, the accused was identified as Rohan Rajput and Omji, natives of Saharsa district in Bihar. Both were caught during police checking on Wednesday. The accused confessed they had stolen the scooter of a hotel owner from Paschim Vihar in Delhi and were trying to sell the scooter after changing its number plate.

According to the complaint filed by head constable Ashish, while vehicle checking, it was found that the number plate of the scooter did not match with the registration card of the two-wheeler. On further questioning, they could not produce the driving licence and so the police took them to the police station with the stolen scooty.

During interrogation, the main accused Rohan Rajput revealed that he had been working at the Wrapchic hotel in Paschim Vihar in Delhi from March to May. The hotel owner Saurabh paid him Rs 20,000 per month as salary, but when he did not pay the salary for two months, Saurabh took away the scooter and a mobile phone from his hotel. He sold the stolen phone to an unknown person in Delhi for Rs 7,000 and spent the money on food and drinks. He changed the number plate of the scooter and contacted his friend Omji. “They were trying to sell the stolen scooter, but our team nabbed them before that,” the head constable wrote in the complaint.

An FIR was registered against the duo under Sections 317(2), 342(2) and Section 3(5) of the BNS. “We are questioning the accused and further probe is under way”, said Inspector Rajender Kumar, SHO.
