Workers felicitated on Vishwakarma Jayanti
33,000 labourers attend awareness, recognition events at 146 venues
On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Haryana Labour Department organised a ‘Shramik Samman evam Jagrukta Samaroh’ simultaneously at 146 labour squares across the state. Guided by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Labour Minister Anil Vij, the programme saw the participation of around 33,000 workers from factories, shops, construction sites and the unorganised sector.
A government spokesperson said the initiative aimed to spread awareness about workers’ rights, safety provisions, and welfare schemes, while also honouring their contribution to society. “Workers are the backbone of the state’s economic and industrial progress. It is through their hard work and dedication that industries, construction, transport, and trade flourish,” speakers at the events noted.
To make the information accessible, the department used specially prepared brochures, posters and banners in simple language. Workers were briefed on labour laws, accident safety and ongoing welfare schemes. Sweets were also distributed as a mark of respect.
Departmental officers, public representatives and social workers attended the events, listened to workers’ grievances and assured timely solutions. Officials said the programme reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that every worker is aware of his rights, works in a safe environment and secures a better life for his family.
