Sonepat: Learning Resource Centre of the BPS Women University, Khanpur Kalan here organised a work shop on the International Mother Language Day on the university premises. Vice-Chancellor Prof Sushma Yadava said mother language and cultures keep human beings attached with their roots and provide courage to establish their identity at world platform. “University is committed to promote Indian languages, literature and culture,” she said. President of Centre Dr Ravi Bhusan said, “We should be proud of our mother language and often interact in it.”

Pharmacy student shines at youth fest

Ambala: Kunal Gera, a student of MM College of Pharmacy, won second prize in the Rap Star competition of the ‘Youth Vibe 2020: Global Open Youth Fest’ of Lovely Professional University, Punjab. The university students have been winning events like moot court competitions, sports competitions and national-level youth festivals. Vice-Chancellor Prof Gambhir congratulated Kunal for his achievement and extended his best wishes for more such accolades in the future.

Online training programme

Hisar: An online training programme was organised by Civil Engineering Department of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology here in association with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh, on the topic ‘Preparing students for job interview’ in the Ch Ranbir Singh auditorium of the university. Prof Amandeep Kaur from NITTTR was the resource person and department chairperson Prof Asha Gupta presided over the programme. Prof Kaur explained techniques of the interview. She said, “Communication skills, group discussion and body language play an important role during the interview.” She also elaborated techniques about the communication skills, group discussion and body language. Prof Asha Gupta said 90 students from BTech civil engineering first and second year participated in the programme. The aim of the training programme was to prepare students for job. Navdeep Mor, faculty of department and coordinator of the programme, proposed a vote of thanks.

National seminar at tosham college

Bhiwani: Banwari Lal Jindal Suiwala College, Tosham, here organised a one-day national seminar jointly with the Departments of Commerce and Economics. Principal Dr Rakesh Bhardwaj said the event was sponsored by the General Higher Education Director on the theme ‘Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development’. At the inaugural session, the keynote speaker and chief guest Prof Surender Sharma addressed the students. He elaborated in detail various aspects involved in the CSR and sustainable development. Vipul Sharma, associate professor, Dehradun University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, was among prominent speakers at the session. He discussed misconceptions surrounding CSR and sustainable development through practical examples. In the technical sessions, more than one hundred ten delegates from various parts of the nation presented their research papers on the main and sub-themes of the seminar.

State-level students’ convention

Yamunanagar: Jai Parkash Mukand Lal Innovative Engineering and Technology Institute (JMIETI), Radaur, organised a one-day state-level students’ convention in collaboration with the Computer Society of India, Chennai. Prof Ashutosh Kumar Singh, head of the Computer Application Department, NIT, Kurukshetra, was the chief guest at the event. JMIETI director Prof RS Chauhan presided over the event. During inauguration, Prof Chauhan reported highlights and achievements of the institute. Prof Ashutosh Kumar Singh discussed about how to orient their workforce to achieve individual goals. He explained his vision about human to machine and machine to machine interaction.

Competitions at MLN College

Yamunanagar: A state-level competition was organised by the Mathematics Department of MLN College here. The competitions were held in three categories such as debate, rangoli and power point presentation (PPP). Around 100 students from 19 colleges of the state participated in the event. The programme was inaugurated by Officiating Principal of college Dr Gulshan Sethi along with panel of judges Dr SL Saini (retd MLN College Professor), Dr Indu Bala (Chhachhrauli Government College Associate Professor), Dr Bhadur Singh(Maharaja Agrasen College Associate Professor) and Dr Vijay Chawla (MaharajaAgrasen College, Jagadhari). Dr Rachna Aggarwal, Head of the Department of Mathematics Department, and convenor of the programme welcomed the guests and students.
