Rohtak: Need of the hour is technology mediated learning and technology-enabled governance. If we don’t keep pace with the latest trends of Information & Community Technology (ICT), we shall be left behind. This was stated by Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Prof Rajbir Singh during a digital awareness workshop organised in the university. He launched an android-based MDU app which will be beneficial for university employees. This app has been developed by a team of the university computer centre. Finance officer Mukesh Bhatt gave an overview of the application. MDU Director, Digital Learning Centre Prof Nasib Singh Gill briefed about the digital initiatives of MDU. Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Nina Singh and Registrar Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja also spoke on the occasion.
Sports meet ends at Murthal varsity
Sonepat: A two-day annual sports meet of the DCR University of Science and Technology, Murthal (Sonepat), concluded on Saturday. Students Kashav and Anjali were adjudged the best athletes in the boys and girls categories, respectively. Prof Manoj Duhan, HoD, Bio-medical Engineering Department, and Ajai were the winners in 200 m races of the teachers and employees, respectively. Chitra got the first position in 100 m. Around 500 students participated in the meet. University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Rajindera Kumar Anayath and Engineer Rajni Anayath distributed prizes among the winners.
K’shetra NIT convocation on feb 20
Kurukshetra: The 17th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, will be held on February 20 at the institute’s open air theatre. Director of the institute Dr Satish Kumar said the convocation would be attended by Union Minister Rajnath Singh as the chief guest and S Ravinarayanan, former chairman and managing director, Axis Aerospace and Technologies, will be present. Chief convener of the convocation Prof Akhilesh Swaroop said a total of 1,339 students would be awarded degrees during the ceremony.
Annual day at Nirankari college
Gurugram: Driven by the theme of ‘Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ (lead me from darkness to light), a rainbow of colours unfurled on the stage as the Nirankari Baba Gurbachan Singh Memorial College, Sohna, celebrated its annual day. The occasion was blessed by the head of Sant Nirankari Mission, Satguru Mata Sudiksha ji. The president of the governing body RS Manhas welcomed her by presenting a sapling and gave welcome address. The general secretary of the governing body SS Sethi presented a report on the developments made during the past few years. Dr MS Khatri, principal of the college, presented the college report in the field of academics, sports and extra-curricular activities.
College to set up biz incubator
Ambala: MMDU reaches another milestone with one of its constituent institutes, MM College of Pharmacy all set to be recognised as a host institute to set up an established business incubator for implementation of the scheme named ‘Support for entrepreneurial and managerial development of MSMEs through incubator’. The University has received an official letter from the Office of the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, for the same. This facility will encourage entrepreneurs to come up with innovative solutions for New India by availing financial support up to Rs 15 lakh for every approved idea.
Students for exchange programme
Hisar: Two students of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University (CCSHAU) – Kalpana Yadav (MSc first year, Vegetable Science) of Ramnagar village in Charkhi Dadri and Parneel of the BSc, Agriculture, of Siswal village in Hisar, got selected under the Tokyo NODAI special student exchange programme to obtain full time scholarship at Tokyo Agricultural University, Japan. Both students are selected under an MoU between CCSHAU, Hisar, and Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan for co-operation in agricultural research and education. Vice-Chancellor Prof KP Singh congratulated the selected students for their bright future and also gave important tips regarding stay and study abroad.
Prize distribution ceremony
Karnal: An annual prize distribution ceremony was held in Pratap Public School, Jarnailly Colony. The ceremony was presided over by Director Principal Poonam Navet. Kaveri House was adjudged the best house followed by Ganga House.
