Workshop orgaised in Panipat to strengthen media-govt coordination

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chandigarh, on Wednesday organised a media workshop titled ‘Vartalap’ in Panipat, aimed at improving coordination between the media and the government and spreading awareness about public welfare schemes at both central and state levels.

The event was inaugurated by Panipat Deputy Commissioner Virendra Kumar Dahiya, who underscored the importance of the workshop as a platform for dialogue between the media and the administration. “Vartalap aims to eliminate communication gaps and foster mutual understanding,” he said, adding that strengthening Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) is vital for equipping the youth with industry-relevant skills.

Sheenam Jain, assistant director, PIB Chandigarh, delivered the opening remarks and addressed various queries from journalists regarding the Press Sewa Portal. Dr Bineet Kaur, assistant director, presented an overview of the functioning of different departments under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Guest of honour Sushil Aggrawal, regional director for skill development, emphasised the significance of schemes such as STRIVE (Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement) and the development of training infrastructure. Sugan Lal Meena, joint director, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), discussed the benefits of ESIC and shared insights into the Scheme to Promote Registration of Employers/Employees (SPREE) initiative.

Himanshu Khatri, District Development Manager, NABARD, elaborated on the new cooperative policy and the need to revitalise cooperatives as member-centric institutions fostering inclusive growth. Dr Abid Ali, assistant professor at Kurukshetra University.
