World Car-Free Day at Kuruksheta University

Kurukshetra: On the occasion of World Car-Free Day, leading the Kuruksheta University fraternity, KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva reached his office on foot from his residence. The VC said all efforts should be made to reduce carbon and other harmful emissions by reducing the use of cars. He appealed to the teachers, officers and employees of KU to include walking and cycling to office as a daily routine. On this occasion, registrar Dr Sanjeev Sharma, chief security officer Dr Chand Ram Jilova, Deputy Director of Public Relations Department Dr Deepak Rai Babbar, OSD to Vice-Chancellor Pawan Rohilla, Superintendent Vinod Verma etc were present.

Six students of GJUST get jobs

Hisar: Six students of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar have been selected in the e-campus placement drive of Bangalore-based 3E Digital Solutions company organised by the training and placement cell of the university. Prof Baldev Raj Kamboj, Vice-Chancellor and Prof Avnesh Verma, registrar of the university congratulated the selected students. Pratap Singh, director Placement said 93 students from BTech CSE, IT and MCA passing out students applied for this job. After the online technical test followed by technical interviews, six students got selected. Dr Aditya Vir Singh, assistant director said Abhimanyu Kumar, Amit Kumar, Mohit Mittal, Ravish Kumar from BTech. CSE, Himanshu from BTech IT and Mahak Dhembla from MCA passing out batch had been selected.

Orientation programme

Kaithal: A seven-day orientation programme on UGC NET English started by the English department of RKSD College, Kaithal, in collaboration with the internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) and career guidance cell. Principal Sanjay Goyal, in his address, while praising the English department for this creative initiative, said this event would strive to provide an in-depth knowledge of English subject and detailed information of technical interests. Head of the department of English Prof Rajbir Parashar extended special thanks to the management and principal of the college and assured to achieve the possible goals of this creative initiative.

Online lecture series

Karnal: On the occasion of Haryana Heroes Day, the department of history, KVA DAV College for Women, Karnal initiated an online lecture series under the aegis of “Azadi ka Amrut Mohotsav” in which the inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr Bindu Sahni, Director, Jal Shakti Vibhaag, HP. At the outset, Principal Renu Mehta stressed on the significance and role of martyrs in the struggle of Indian Independence. Sahni deliberated extensively on the topic “1857 uprising and Haryana region”. She threw light on various aspects of 1857 struggle with a special emphasis on the heroes of Haryana who played an instrumental role in it. The extension lecture concluded with question/answer session that benefited all students.

‘Awas Par Samvad’ event

Kurukshetra: An online inaugural address of a programme ‘Awas Par Samvad’ organised at Bhagwan Parshu Ram College in collaboration with the Department of Housing for all Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)-PMAY (U) Haryana. Vice-Chancellor Starex University Gurugram, Prof MM Goel, said, “To implement the PMAY (U) for needo-housing in Haryana, we need to accept the challenges including migratory labour from nearby states with effective implementation of public-private partnership ( PPP) model.”

Gurukul students bring laurels

Kurukshetra: As many as 35 students of Gurukul Kurukshetra brought laurels to their alma-mater in JEE -Mains 2021. Samarpan Verma has secured AIR 1,096 with a score of 99.43 percentile followed by Govind securing 1,255 with 99.038 percentile. Those above 90 percentile include Aditya Raj 98.94, Abhishek 98.5, Ashish 98.28, Deepanshu Saini 95.96, Dhanur Garg 94.91, Aryansh Kumar 94.08 and Vishal Kumar Gupta 94.02. Vyom Singh and Aryan Dahiya shared 91.88 percentile followed by Nikil Saini and Arjun Tomar with 91.83 and 91.26 percentile respectively. Eighteen more students also qualified for it. Col Arun Datta, director of Gurukul congratulated the students for their excellent performance in this prestigious exam.
