Rohtak: Wrestling coach gets death penalty for killing six

Rohtak, February 23

A court of Additional Sessions Judge Dr Gagan Geet Kaur on Friday awarded death penalty to a wrestling coach Sukhvinder of Baroda village in Sonepat for killing six persons at an “akhara” in Jat College over three years ago.

It also sentenced a co-accused Manoj Kumar of Uttar Pradesh to three years’ of rigorous imprisonment after convicting him under Section 29 of the Arms Act in the case. A fine of Rs 5,000 was also been slapped on him. Both were convicted by the court four days ago.

As per information, Sukhvinder, along with his friends, reached the “akhara” at Jat College on February 12, 2021, and opened several rounds of fire on seven persons, including another wrestling coach, his wife and minor son, before fleeing the spot. Six of those fired upon died in the incident. Sukhvinder was later arrested by the police from Delhi.
