The district police have started a drive to take action against drivers, who do not pay traffic challans.

Kushal Pal, in-charge of the Traffic Police Station said 32 pending challans had been paid by the truck drivers from August 1 till now.

He said on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, a drive was started to take action against the drivers, who did not pay pending challans.

He further said the Haryana Police were taking cognizance against the drivers who did not pay traffic challan on time.

He said that they were stopping such vehicles on check posts to get the pending challans cleared.

“If a vehicle has been challaned and the owner/driver has not paid the challan, he may face inconvenience during travel,” said Kushal Pal.

He said the police was requesting the general public through newspapers and social media that those vehicles whose traffic challans were pending, should ensure that they paid them on time.

He further said that such drivers were being stopped at check posts and asked them to pay the traffic challan online.

Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman said in this regard, the Superintendent of Police had instructed all SHOs, including the SHO of the Traffic police station to ensure that the pending challans were paid, otherwise the police would take action against such vehicles as per the rules.
