Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of flood protection work at several places in Yamunanagar district.
During inspection, he instructed officials of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department to complete the protection work on time.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with Irrigation Department officials, conducted a surprise inspection of the flood protection work at Sherpur village of Chhachhrauli block, Khannuwala, and Chintpur villages of Vyaspur (Bilaspur) block and on the Som river near the bridge of Chhachhrauli town.
He directed the officials to ensure that all flood protection work is completed by June 20, before the arrival of monsoon.
He said in the 56th meeting of the Haryana State Drought and Flood Relief Control, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had approved 40 flood protection works in Yamunanagar district. He further said all flood protection works were in progress.
During the inspection, villagers told the Deputy Commissioner that Lopo, Ledi, Tihano, Khanpur, Urjani, Baloli, Nahar-Taharpur and Hadoli villages got flooded during the rainy season. They requested the Deputy Commissioner to get the cleaning work done under the bridges of Khannuwala and Chintpur villages so that the rainwater could drain out easily.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to make proper arrangements for the drainage of water in those villages.
Chhachhrauli SDM Rohit Kumar, Vyaspur SDM Jaspal Singh Gill, Superintending Engineer of Irrigation Department RS Mittal, Executive Engineer Vinod Kumar, DIPR Dr Manoj Kumar, Sumer Chand, farmers Sandeep, Rakesh Kumar, Rajesh, Gulab Singh, Manish, Sanjeev Kumar, Narendra Singh, Sahab Singh, Bharat Singh and others were present on the occasion.
