The Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri has launched a cleanliness awareness drive in the twin cities to bring the civic body on the top position in the Swachh Survekshan.
People are being familiarised with several ways to ensure cleanliness in the cities.
In this series, the MC team made 14 Haryana Battalion NCC cadets aware of cleanliness at Tejli Khel Stadium in Yamunanagar.
The team appealed to all to ensure their participation in Swachh Survekshan.
On the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha, the programme was organised under the guidance of Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijay Pal Yadav.
Activity expert Pooja of Swachh Bharat Mission and Shashi Gupta, founder of NGO ‘Ek Soch Nayi Soch’, told the NCC cadets about the process of making compost in a pit.
They also made them aware about putting dry waste in the vehicle coming door to door to collect garbage.
They appealed to all to not spread garbage in the open and avoid the use of single-use plastic items.
NCC cadets assured the MC officials that they would separate the household waste and put it in the vehicles of the civic body.
They also said that they would carry cloth bags from home to buy goods from the market and not use single-use plastic items.
Pooja gave a compost pit to the officer of 14 Haryana Battalion NCC and appealed for
preparing compost from wet waste in the NCC office.
On the occasion, officials of the MC honoured cadets Manju, Hansika, Simranjit, Vaishali, Priyanshi, Vansh, Vanshika, Vaishnavi and Simran by giving them letters of appreciation.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Vijay Pal Yadav said the MC had issued WhatsApp No. 7082410824 to send photographs of garbage lying around them along with the location on it.
