Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation (MC) authorities have provided personal protective equipment (PPE) safety kits to sanitation workers in a bid to ensure their health and safety.
Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha said, besides paying special attention to cleanliness, the MC was also paying attention to the safety of sanitation workers.
The MC had provided safety kits to the workers, he added, stating that the kits had had a reflector jacket, gloves and other items.
“Now sanitation workers will be seen wearing these jackets and gloves while cleaning. There will be no risk of accidents while cleaning at night due to the reflective jackets. Keeping their health in mind, the workers have been given gloves to wear while picking up garbage,” Sinha said.
Chief Sanitary Inspector Sunil Dutt said kits were recently given to workers of zones 1 and 2.
According to information, in a meeting held with sanitation officers recently, Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha had instructed sanitation officers to distribute these kits.
Dutt said sanitation workers’ heath was also examined at the local Civil Hospital.
He said the health of sanitation workers was found to be fine at the check-up event.
The Municipal Commissioner has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the officials in making the city clean and beautiful.
