Yamunanagar beekeeper invited for R-Day function by Union Govt

Progressive farmer and beekeeper Subhash Kamboj of Hafizpur village, falling in Radaur subdivision of Yamunanagar district has received an invitation from the Government of India to attend the 76th Republic Day programme in Delhi.

In this programme, he will be the guest of the Government of India for four days.

In a ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned Subhash Kamboj’s name and said, "Our farmers are doing wonders in the production of honey. The sweetness of honey is changing their lives and also increasing their income.”

Farmer Subhash Kamboj, who worked as a teacher in a private school before 1996, said that he took training in beekeeping scientifically, after which he started his work with only six boxes of beekeeping.

He said he was now doing beekeeping in about 2,000 boxes and his honey was supplied to several states of India and abroad.

Subhash has been earlier honoured by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khatter, former Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Chaudhary Charan Singh Agriculture University, Hisar.

He said that as per the invitation programme, he had been called to Delhi on January 25 and then he would participate in different programmes from January 25 to January 28.

He added that he would also get a chance to watch the Republic Day parade from the VIP gallery.

He said that he had so far trained more than 1,000 persons and made them self-reliant in the field.

Regarding his business, Subhash said that beekeeping was the work of keeping bees in boxes and getting honey, wax and other products from them.

“It is also called apiculture and it is a low-cost domestic industry. Apart from honey and wax; beekeeping also provides products like jelly, glue and sting-venom,” said Subhash.

Deputy Commissioner Capt Manoj Kumar congratulated Subhash Kamboj for the achievement and also motivated other farmers to move ahead in this direction and bring glory to the district and the state.

He said that the government was providing ample facilities to farmers, taking advantage of which they could bring glory to their district and the state.

“Information about various schemes related to agriculture can be obtained from the Agriculture Department,” he said.
