Yamunanagar tennis association holds meeting ahead of seniors tourney
The Executive Committee meeting of the Jagadhri-Yamunanagar Tennis Association (JYTA) was recently held at Gymkhana Club, Yamunanagar, to finalise preparations for the 8th Balraj Gupta Memorial Seniors Tennis Tournament.
This prestigious tournament will be held on February 22 and February 23 at the tennis courts of Tejli Khel Stadium in Yamunanagar. The event will be organised under the aegis of the Haryana Tennis Association (HTA).
The meeting was attended by all key office-bearers, who discussed various aspects to ensure the tournament’s success. Speaking on the occasion, JYTA president Kapil Gupta said the tournament was not just a competition, but a platform that fostered sportsmanship, experience and respect among players.
“The Balraj Gupta Memorial Tennis Tournament has become a prestigious event for the Indian tennis community. Every year, nearly 200 players from across the country participate, making it a fantastic opportunity to showcase talent. Our goal is to make this edition even grander, ensuring the highest quality experience for players, along with excellent lodging and dining arrangements,” Gupta added.
Tournament director Gaurav Oberoi highlighted the key features of the tournament, stating that the national-level competition had become one of the most anticipated events for senior Indian tennis players.
This year, the tournament would feature a total prize pool of Rs 2,00,000, along with trophies and a high-quality competitive experience, he added.
JYTA general secretary Varun Garg and tournament secretary Sumeet Gupta reiterated the association’s commitment to hosting a world-class tournament.
“The Balraj Gupta Memorial Seniors Tennis Tournament is not just a sporting event but also a celebration of tennis, offering players a chance to compete, connect and promote the spirit of the game,” Gupta said.
Karan Bindlish, Raj Chawla, Lalit Tandon, Gurvinder Singh, Dr Shivendra, Harvinder Singh, Raman Pahuja, Rahul Vij, Deepak Sondhi, Jagmeet Singh, Adeep Singh, Karan Bindlish and Shivam Singla were among those present at the meeting.
