The woman reportedly consumed poison, while the man was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
According to the police, the couple had checked into room number 203 around 9.30 am. The man, identified as Surender, a resident of Mauju Khera, had booked the room earlier.
The woman, Manju, was from Shahpuria village and a second-year BEd student at a private college in Sirsa. She had told her family she was going to the library.
Around 5 pm, Surender briefly left the hotel but returned shortly after. When the hotel staff called them around 8 pm to ask about dinner, there was no response. The staff assumed they did not need service.
At around midnight, Manju’s father and relatives arrived at the hotel searching for her.
After showing her photo, hotel staff confirmed she was staying with a man in room 203. When repeated knocks went unanswered, relatives asked staff to break the door.
On entering, they were shocked to find Manju lying unresponsive on the bed and Surender hanging from the fan. The hotel owner immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and took the bodies into custody.
Civil Lines SHO Radheshyam confirmed the young man had booked the room in his name and was the first to arrive.
The police are investigating the matter based on statements from both families. The bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
